These two, obscure, Jazz at the Philharmonic concerts featuring Gene have never been released in this form. First session is the first JATP show ever from 1944, where Gene was billed as the Chicago Flash, featuring Ventura, Jacquet, Willie Smith, Howard McGhee and the gang. Second show from 1953 was one of the few time Gene played in the jam session segment, in this case with Flip, Ben Webster, Roy, Charlie Shavers, Bill Harris, Benny Carter, Willie Smith, and Oscar Peterson on organ!
