Film of "The Founder of Modern Drumming" is very, very rare, and this is one of the few--if any--glimpses of the master in the 1950s. Bobby Troup's "Stars of Jazz" hosts Max and his group, as well as singer Mary Ann McCall (another rarity). Includes a short history of bop and plenty of Max.
