Stan Kenton: Artistry 1962
The 1962 Kenton band, filmed for a never-aired television pilot, with singer Sue Rainey and The Sportsmen (!) as special guests. The 1962 incarnation of the band featured trumpeter Jack Sheldon, Gene Roland on mellophone, Gabe Baltzar on alto sax, Buddy Arnold on tenor and Don Bagley on bass. A number of Stan's hits--"Artistry in Rhythm," "Intermission Riff" and "The Peanut Vendor" among them--are included, as are some newer charts by Bill Holman and Lennie Niehaus.
